FINAL WORD

A fast hidden-word game of deduction, pressure, and survival.

Build a secret word from the cards in your hand. Then take turns making Guesses—real English words designed to expose letters in every opponent’s hidden word.

Each Guess reveals every matching letter it contains. As the table fills with exposed letters, broad attacks turn into precise deductions. Read the patterns. Protect your rare letters. Find the word that finishes your opponents before they finish you.

The last player with facedown letters has the Final Word.

How to Play

Each player receives 10 letter cards and may exchange up to four of them once.

Using the final hand, each player secretly builds a valid word of at least four letters and places it facedown in a row.

The longest Secret Word determines the maximum Guess length for the entire game.

On your turn:

1. Think about the letters already revealed.
2. Say one valid word as your Guess.
3. Every opponent reveals all hidden letters in their Secret Word that appear in your Guess.
4. Any player whose entire word is revealed is eliminated.

Your own Guess never affects your Secret Word.

The same exact Guess cannot be used twice.

Every T and every E in LETTER is revealed.

It does not matter how many times a letter appears in the Guess. If the letter is present, every matching copy is exposed.

Why It Works

FINAL WORD combines:

• hidden-word deduction;
• tactical vocabulary choices;
• simultaneous attacks;
• rare-letter defense;
• fast player elimination;
• almost no downtime.

A strong Guess can damage the entire table. A precise Guess can eliminate a single opponent. Sometimes the best defense is a longer word. Sometimes a short word built around an unusual letter survives everything.

Most games resolve in only a few turns.

Components

The print-and-play edition uses a custom 52-card Alphabet Deck:

• 21 vowels;
• 13 anchor consonants;
• 13 other consonants;
• 5 rare letters: J, Q, V, X, and Z.

There are no suits, wild cards, boards, tokens, or score sheets.

Word Rules

Secret Words and Guesses must appear as standalone English words in the agreed dictionary.

Plurals, standard verb forms, uncommon words, and obscure words are allowed when they can be verified.

Proper nouns, abbreviations, acronyms, contractions, hyphenated expressions, and words requiring capitalization are not allowed.

Once the first Guess is spoken, every Secret Word is locked.

Note: The last player with facedown letters has the Final Word. If that word is invalid, that player is eliminated and the most recently eliminated player with a valid word wins instead.

• sleeve the cards for easier handling and longer life.

Development Status

FINAL WORD is playable and ready for the table, but continued feedback is welcome as the game moves through wider playtesting and production refinement.
